Disposal & Batteries

Waste electrical and electronic equipment and used batteries must not be disposed of with household waste – take them free of charge to a municipal collection point near you.

Marking

The crossed-out wheeled-bin symbol on our products or their packaging means: at the end of its life, this device must not be disposed of with household waste, but must be taken to separate collection for waste electrical and electronic equipment (Section 18 of the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act, ElektroG).

Take-back

As a distributor, we are required to provide take-back options for waste equipment to the extent applicable to our sales floor area. You can drop off waste equipment free of charge at municipal recycling centres and collection points near you (directory at www.ear-system.de). We additionally accept the return, by post at your cost, of waste equipment purchased from us – please contact us via the contact form.

We are registered under the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG):

Batteries (BattDG)

Batteries and rechargeable batteries must also not be disposed of with household waste. The crossed-out wheeled-bin symbol applies here too; where a battery contains more than the statutory threshold of cadmium, lead or mercury, the relevant chemical symbol (Cd, Pb, Hg) is additionally shown. You are legally required to dispose of used batteries via collection separate from household waste, e.g. by returning them to a municipal collection point or a retailer. For lithium-containing batteries and rechargeable batteries, please avoid short-circuiting and mechanical damage (fire hazard) during storage and transport, in particular by taping over exposed contacts.

Products containing a fixed or supplied battery are marked accordingly on the relevant product page.

Before Disposal

Before disposing of a device, first check whether it can still be repaired or is covered by warranty – see Returns & Warranty for details. If the device contains a battery that can be removed without opening the housing, remove it before disposal and return it separately as described above. If the battery is fixed or soldered in place, do not open the housing yourself – return the complete device via the take-back process described above; proper separation then happens during recycling.
