Ideal diodes are used to prevent reverse current flow and protect power systems against voltage drops or failures. In the event of a power supply failure at the output, an ideal diode blocks reverse current and prevents the entire system from being affected by the power outage. Ideal diodes are essential for paralleling multiple DC/DC converters, where they ensure proper current sharing and prevent current from flowing between individual converters. For example, the DCP48M requires diode-based decoupling when used in parallel configurations. DPS offers both classical diode DIN RAIL modules and advanced ideal DIN Rail diode modules. While conventional diodes introduce a significant forward voltage drop, ideal diodes achieve a much lower voltage drop, resulting in higher efficiency, reduced power losses, and improved system performance.
