48V/24V/12V DC/DC Converters — Ultrathin, 1 A DIN Rail

The DCC4805 delivers a regulated 5 V from a 48 V rail in only 8.8 mm of DIN rail — with 12 V and 24 V variants for any control cabinet.

Why the DCC4805 family fits more power into less space

8.8 mm width: double your cabinet density

Pack more I/O and control modules without a larger enclosure. At just 8.8 mm wide, the DCC4805 occupies half the space of typical DC/DC converters. Distribute auxiliary power exactly where you need it, without sacrificing rail real estate.

48 V input — flexible for mixed-voltage buses

Run from 12 V, 24 V, or 48 V DC rails without a redesign. The wide input range (Uout+4 V to 48 V) means the same converter works across multiple cabinet generations. The 12 V and 24 V output variants cover the three most common auxiliary voltages.

Built‑in protection keeps your machines online

Reverse polarity, short circuits, and transients won't take down the rail. The DCC4805 accepts a miswired input up to -48 V without damage, tolerates indefinite output shorts, and clamps moderate input transients with an internal TVS diode. Fewer field failures, fewer truck rolls.

Power Good LED: diagnostics in seconds

Confirm output regulation with one glance. The front-panel green LED lights when the output is in spec, eliminating voltmeter checks. Spot a failed module instantly in a crowded panel.

Standardize your auxiliary voltage — one form factor, three outputs

All three converters share the same 8.8 mm DIN-rail footprint, so no layout changes are needed when you switch output voltages. Choose the variant that matches your control voltage.

FAQ

What is the valid input voltage range, and does it change with load?

Yes — the minimum input voltage depends on load. At full load (1 A) the input must be at least U_out + 4 V; at no load U_out + 2 V is sufficient. Nameplate U_in,max is 48 V (absolute max 53 V per spec table). So a DCC4812 needs ≥16 V at 1 A, a DCC4824 needs ≥28 V — a 24 V bus cannot drive the DCC4824 at full load.

What output voltages are available across the family, and how accurate are they?

Three fixed variants: DCC4805 outputs 5 V (4.8–5.6 V), DCC4812 outputs 12 V (11.8–12.6 V), DCC4824 outputs 24 V (23.7–24.8 V). Output voltage tolerance is ±2 % dynamic typical, with solid voltage stability across the full 0–1 A output current range.

What protection mechanisms are built in?

Four protections are listed: reverse-polarity input to -48 V DC, indefinite short-circuit, open-circuit safe operation, and an input TVS diode (1SMA4758A) clamping input transients. The datasheet does not mention a separate output OVP or a thermal shutdown — at 1 A continuous above 30 °C ambient, add airflow or derate to ≤0.3 A.

How is output current capability derated at higher ambient temperatures?

At full load (1 A) the operating range is -40 °C to +30 °C. Reducing the load to 0.3 A or below extends the range to the full -40 °C to +50 °C. The datasheet doesn't specify an active thermal shutdown, so thermal management above 30 °C at full load is the user's responsibility.

What is the efficiency, and how does input voltage affect it?

Peak efficiency exceeds 90 % above 300 mA on the 12 V and 24 V variants. From the efficiency curves: DCC4824 ~97 % at U_in = 30 V, ~94 % at U_in = 48 V. DCC4812 ~96 % at U_in = 15 V, ~91 % at U_in = 48 V. DCC4805 ~92 % at U_in = 10 V, ~84 % at U_in = 48 V. Lower input-to-output ratios are more efficient. Run above 200 mA for best results.

Can the output voltage, current limit, or protection thresholds be customised?

Yes — DPS customises output voltage, current limit, and TVS protection thresholds for production volumes. An engineering fee applies; contact DPS to scope your variant. Standard catalogue variants (5 V, 12 V, 24 V) ship from stock.
