48V to 24V DC-DC DIN-Rail Buck: 8.8mm Wide, 1A
Add a 24 V, 1 A auxiliary rail in just 8.8 mm of DIN space — reverse-polarity proof, short-circuit safe, and rated for 48 V nominal input.
- 8.8 mm DIN width
- 1 A continuous at 30 °C
- Reverse-polarity proof
Designed for the tightest DIN-rail installations
8.8 mm width: pack more I/O into the same panel
Slide the DCC4824 into rail space that’s too narrow for a standard converter — and reclaim every millimetre for relays, contactors, or I/O modules. At just 8.8 mm wide, it leaves over 60 % more room than a typical 22.5 mm unit, letting you build denser control cabinets without adding extra DIN rail.
1 A full load to 30 °C: no derating in normal cabinets
Most compact converters begin cutting current well below 30 °C, forcing you to oversize or add cooling. The DCC4824 delivers 1 A continuous at up to 30 °C ambient, so your 24 V control circuits get full power without forced airflow — just clip it on the rail and forget it.
Wide input range: works from 28 V to 48 V without adjustment
Power it from any DC bus between 28 V and 48 V. The converter automatically regulates the output — no jumper, no DIP switch. Whether you run a 48 V distribution, a 36 V backup battery, or an intermediate voltage, the DCC4824 adapts with no setup.
Built to survive mistakes and faults
Reverse-polarity protection: survive wiring errors
If a tech flips the input polarity, the DCC4824 simply blocks the current — no smoke, no failure. Wire it correctly and operation resumes. With protection to -48 V DC, you can avoid expensive field-service calls caused by a swapped wire.
Output short-proof: safe against miswires and load faults
Short the output, and the converter limits current indefinitely — it doesn’t latch off or oscillate. Remove the short, and regulation returns immediately. No fuse to replace, no trip to reset, and no downtime waiting for a spare.
Power Good LED: confirm output at a glance
The green LED on the front face lights when the 24 V output is in regulation. During commissioning or troubleshooting, a single glance tells you whether the converter is working — no need for a multimeter just to check power.
How the DCC4824 stacks up against typical compact buck converters
| Criterion | Typical DIN-rail buck | DCC4824 |
|---|---|---|
| Cabinet width consumed | 22.5 mm or more | 8.8 mm |
| 1 A ambient range | Derates below 40–50 °C | Full output to 30 °C |
| Reverse-polarity hardening | External diode often needed | Built-in –48 V protection |
| Output short-circuit behavior | Hiccup or latch-off | Continuous short-proof |
| Input transient clamping | None or minimal | TVS diode (1SMA4758A) |
| Power Good indication | Often absent | Front green LED |

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the valid input voltage range, and does it change with load?
Yes — the minimum input voltage depends on load. At full load (1 A) the input must be at least U_out + 4 V; at no load U_out + 2 V is sufficient. Nameplate U_in,max is 48 V (absolute max 53 V per spec table). So a DCC4812 needs ≥16 V at 1 A, a DCC4824 needs ≥28 V — a 24 V bus cannot drive the DCC4824 at full load.
What output voltages are available across the family, and how accurate are they?
Three fixed variants: DCC4805 outputs 5 V (4.8–5.6 V), DCC4812 outputs 12 V (11.8–12.6 V), DCC4824 outputs 24 V (23.7–24.8 V). Output voltage tolerance is ±2 % dynamic typical, with solid voltage stability across the full 0–1 A output current range.
What protection mechanisms are built in?
Four protections are listed: reverse-polarity input to -48 V DC, indefinite short-circuit, open-circuit safe operation, and an input TVS diode (1SMA4758A) clamping input transients. The datasheet does not mention a separate output OVP or a thermal shutdown — at 1 A continuous above 30 °C ambient, add airflow or derate to ≤0.3 A.
How is output current capability derated at higher ambient temperatures?
At full load (1 A) the operating range is -40 °C to +30 °C. Reducing the load to 0.3 A or below extends the range to the full -40 °C to +50 °C. The datasheet doesn’t specify an active thermal shutdown, so thermal management above 30 °C at full load is the user’s responsibility.
What is the mechanical form factor, and does it fit standard DIN rail enclosures?
Yes — DIN-rail mount, fuse-box style, only 8.8 mm cabinet width. The datasheet lists the mounting type as DIN RAIL with mounting width 8.8 mm; the rail standard is conventional top-hat (35 mm). A green Power-Good LED on the front lights when output is in regulation.
Can the output voltage, current limit, or protection thresholds be customised?
Yes — DPS customises output voltage, current limit, and TVS protection thresholds for production volumes. An engineering fee applies; contact DPS to scope your variant. Standard catalogue variants (5 V, 12 V, 24 V) ship from stock.
