Product Description

The ACL230is a long-life 350mA constant current LED power supply for output voltages between 5V – 29V. The product is particullary designed for high reliable applications, where LED driver replacement is a tedious task. The product has demonstrated over 70 years of lifetime. An internal status relay informs whether the LED current can be output. If the required LED current cannot be output, the relay drops out. This allows faults in critical lighting equipment to be signalled. Typical applications range from safety lighting, indoor lighting, led signage. The power supply offers good output current stability over the output voltage range. The unit has a wide temperature range between -40°C and 50°C.

Constant current — the ACL230 regulates to a fixed 350 mA DC output regardless of the LED string voltage. It operates over an output voltage range of 5 V to 29 V, making it compatible with LED strings from a few series diodes up to roughly 8–9 high-brightness LEDs in series.

Over 70 years of service life demonstrated at 40 °C operating temperature. Like the HDR20 family the ACL230 contains no electrolytic capacitors — the primary failure mode in conventional LED drivers — which is the structural basis for the lifetime claim rather than an extrapolated MTBF figure.

The relay closes at ~230 mA (typ; 250 mA max) and opens at ~170 mA (typ; 150 mA min) — signalling whether the driver is delivering rated current. It provides NO and NC contacts on top and bottom relay connectors, rated 250 V AC / 30 V DC / 2 A / 60 W — enough to drive a PLC input, signal lamp, or small contactor.

Both fault conditions are handled indefinitely without damage. An open-circuit output is safe for unlimited duration; a short-circuit output is also safe for unlimited duration. In both cases the relay drops out (current below the 170 mA threshold), providing an automatic fault signal to supervisory equipment.

Yes — outputs can be paralleled directly for increased current. An internal output diode is fitted to each unit, which prevents reverse current flow between paralleled converters and ensures stable current sharing without additional external components.

Flicker index is 0.14 per CIE TN 006:2016, well below the EU Eco-Design mandated limit of 0.4. The intentional current ripple added for EMC compliance is not perceptible to the human eye and does not produce stroboscopic effects at typical LED drive frequencies.

200–250 V AC single phase (230 V nominal). The ACL230 is designed against IEC 62368-1 (audio/video and IT equipment safety), IEC 61010-1 (measurement and control equipment safety) and IEC 61010-2-201 (control equipment) — the standards relevant to industrial control panel and building-automation use in the EU. The datasheet lists these as "applied engineering standards" (self-declaration), not third-party certification.
